It's an older Panda 4x4 - and an older Range Rover, for that matter - so you won't learn much about how the cars' more modern iterations compare, but the test still makes for a fun little video.
(Current 4x4.)

I like this a lot. Mental note: watch more Fifth Gear!

I know! If you're ever bored, there's hours of it just sitting on YouTube.

The Panda will conquer all.

This video makes me really hopeful for the Renegade.

Viscous coupling and no low range? That's not 4x4, that's AWD...

Look, it's written on the car, okay? GAWD, CAR ENTHUSIASTS SOMETIMES!
(Seriously, though, I think the newest generation of the Panda 4x4 has a low-range first gear, locking difs, and an electronic 'torque-on-demand' system, rather than the viscous coupling.)

Hope so, this is basically a Matrix with a couple of inches more clearance.

I want one!

Indeed, and the newest Panda 4x4's even better.

If you're talking about the Toyota Matrix - which I just had to Google, as they're not sold here - then the Panda's quite a bit smaller, at around 3/4s the size.

Yeah, I was more talking about the drive train. Never understood this fake AWD crap, the last thing I want is to have the back wheels start pushing if I'm going around a corner and my front wheels start slipping.

The old Panda 4x4s were the subject of some renown for their off-road performance, fake AWD or no. They're popular with farmers and, as he says, ski-resort police in Italy.

Eh, if I'm going small 4x4 I'm going with a Suzuki Samurai. Those little things put mountain goats to shame lol.
